Max Hall - "Made in Britain"
First Travelled the Iditarod Trail as a "tourist" with Joe Redington's first "Iditarod Challenge" in 1993. Ran the Knik 200 & Copper Basin 300 and his first Iditarod in 1995 in extreme conditions.
Scratched in 1997 after going through the ice. Returned in 1999 finishing 37th, gaining the fastest time for an English Musher and the Sterling Achievement award. Returned to run the Millennium Iditarod in 2000. To complete this race as a foreigner, who has commitments in his home country, is no easy task and substantial support from a persevering wife, so many thoughtful Alaskans, Shapachka Kennels & Swingley Race Team, Montana have been fundamental in making these race finishes possible.

Wattie's Great Race

Wattie's great race began in 2009, when he completed his qualifying races (Tustumena 200 & Tiaga 300) this allowed him to enter his first Iditarod in 2010, where he was placed 45th, finishing with all 16 dogs. He then returned in 2011 to complete the southern route, finishing a very respectable 36th. For the past 3 years, Wattie has leased his team of dogs from Dean Osmar, however, the cost of running the race has proved to be too much, so has now hooked up with Wade Mars and his kennel. Wade runs out of Willow, training with guys such as Ray Reddington, and Hugh Neff, a very young, yet a very experienced musher with a huge appetite for the sport. This will he hopes,allow him to feed his passion for years to come, and it also moves Watties great race to another level. It may even allow other overseas Mushers to taste the sport at this level, at an affordable cost. The costs incurred in this venture are immense, with kennel costs and dog care being his priority and as with every musher, he needs to gain the help and support of friends and family + Corporate sponsorship to keep going. He hopes to set up and secure, a programme of training around November time, as he needs to complete in excess of 1000 miles on the dogs before Iditarod. Wade is also considering the Yukon Quest, so it will be all go this winter. His main aim for the future, is to build a team that will allow him to race the Yukon Quest and the Iditarod back to back in 2014, which will be a massive challenge for him, but one that he will relish.
Back home, he will be running his Siberian Huskies as much as he can, and hopes to attend some local rallies this winter, although he won't be challenging for anything, just having fun with his dogs, and getting them out there.
